Pro Tip 16: Seek to be a benefactor in life, not a pimp...

Seek to be a benefactor in life, not a pimp.

Be sure you cultivate a real life within yourself so you don’t have to settle for the manufactured high of seeking out new events, situations, or people to meet your own unconscious and unfulfilled egoic needs.

Many people are very busy creating exciting and meaningful events in the future that they can look forward to. Things like vacations and excursions, conferences and projects, career achievements and milestones, humanitarian events, new people to date, etc…

There is absolutely nothing wrong with any of these things per say, but seeking and creating the next exciting ‘event’ is often a compensation (even an addiction) that keeps us distracted from the illusion of insignificance that we feel about ourself and our life that often exists at an unconscious level.

This unconscious sense of insignificance is the suffering that many of us are running from. This suffering also creates an unnatural egoic ambition that we are trying to fulfill through the next future event we are seeking to create and experience.

True significance is found as we cultivate and enrich life in THIS ordinary moment, however.

The degree to which we actually have something of value to offer the world around us is directly proportional to the degree that we are deeply at rest and in union with life in this moment.

Only then will we stop using people and resources to create events and situations to satiate our own sense of insignificance. This understanding will also allow us to use the resources and significance that we already have to truly serve and better others.

This is the difference between being a benefactor in life seeking to serve, or simply a pimp, seeking to take.
